Children learn animation skills in holiday class
The team organising Easter holiday events in East Renfrewshire certainly know how to pool their resources and provide plenty of fun for youngsters.
More than a dozen kids had a splashing time in Neilston Swimming Pool and then headed to their local library to get behind a keyboard and create an animated film. East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure Trust launched SwimFilm during the school break as a pilot project and it was so popular there are now plans to repeat the activity for youngsters.
Anthony McReavy, Chief Executive of East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure said: "This was a new way of giving youngsters some fun and at the same time educational activities by combining swimming and showing them how to create an animated film using design and coding on the computers in the local library.
"The activity was a huge success and very popular. The youngsters are now asking us to organising sessions like this again in the future and that's something we will definitely look at doing.
"The concept of combining two very different activities seems to have caught their imagination and worked very well."
