Everywhere you look in Scotland you can find monuments to famous men: the Wallace Monument, the Scott Monument, and the infamous cone-wearing statue of the Duke of Wellington to name a few. But have you ever stopped and wondered: where are the women?

Sara Sheridan has, and Where are the Women? offers a fascinating portrait of Scotland told through the lens of women's stories. Join Sara as she shares snippets from the book.

Big Blethering Book Bash (Family Fun)

It's a marvellous party and you are all invited. Celebrate your favourite books by dressing up as your favourite character for a book-tastic afternoon of games, crafts and stories galore.

Braw Wee Book Cafe (18yrs+) *FULLY BOOKED*

Book loving staff will share with you the best of books and in the spirit of the theme, blethering is wholeheartedly encouraged! If you are looking for something new and need some inspiration for winter reading, then this mini-book café is just braw.

Book Gifting (Primary 1)

We are delighted to be gifting every primary 1 pupil with their free bag of books from Bookbug throughout the week. If you have a child in primary 1, keep your eyes peeled for this little treasure trove coming home. Inside will be three shortlisted titles for the Bookbug Picture Book Prize and resources to spark a love of reading, writing and counting.  

 

Super Storytelling (Children)

Lucky pupils from East Renfrewshire primary schools will meet three top children's authors during Book Week Scotland.

Debi Gliori author and illustrator of over seventy picture books and novels for children of all ages, including the much-loved 'No Matter What' will be visiting on Monday 18 November

Alastair Chisolm children's author and puzzle creator will read 'The Prince and the Witch and the Thief and the Bears.' to P1 pupils on Thursday 21 November.

Simon Puttock award winning author of "Mouse's First Night at Moonlight School" will be visiting the new primary school, Maidenhill, to inspire pupils in their new school library.

Read, Write, Count (5-9yrs)  RWC

As part of the Read, Write, Count campaign, all Primary 2 and 3 children will receive a free bag with books, counting games and writing materials during Book Week Scotland. East Renfrewshire Libraries continue to be part of the Read Write Count libraries outreach project and we run monthly activities to spark a love of learning and discovery.  

This month, we will be discovering the a-MOO-zing Highland coo and making a fridge magnet.
