Local Digital Art & Design Programmes
We have established several digital projects working with artists, schools and the local community. We also offer various classes for both children and adults in digital art, photography and communications. We aim to increase access and support the growth of Hyperlocal media in East Renfrewshire.
Hyperlocal media is defined as offering an online news or content service pertaining to a small community such as a town, village or single postcode. The volume and usage of professional and citizen-produced hyperlocal media is increasing. Technology has made it easier to both create and consume hyperlocal content. We want to help young people to develop their understanding of technology, and the digital and entrepreneurial skills needed to help them succeed in a rapidly growing digital world.
If you are a young person with a glimmer of an idea or a prototype, please get in touch with the arts team to see how we can help it grow! Email our Visual Arts Development Officer: firstname.lastname@example.org
Artist In Residence
Our Artist in Residence, James Gow, has produced a blog to share his progress and experiences during his residency at the Water works site in Barrhead. You can read James' blog here: https://waterworksbarrhead.wordpress.com
3D Printer Project, St John's Primary School
A 3D printed object is created by taking information from a digital file to lay down successive layers of material/filament until the object is formed. Each of these layers can be seen as a thinly sliced horizontal cross-section of the eventual object.
Through spring 2016 we worked with P6 young people at St John's Primary, Barrhead, to experiment for the very first time with our 3D printer. The class decided to redesign their school and ideas were not in short supply! We learnt lots from the young people's designs as they transferred their brilliant creations into a free app called Tinkercad. Their completed printed designs are currently on display at Barrhead Foundry - why not go and take a look?
To view our full range of classes and courses available for children and adults take a look at our classes and workshops page. Advanced booking is required for all classes. Please contact Eastwood Park Box Office on 0141 577 4956 to book.
