Ageing Well with ERCL

A range of activities with older people in mind

We're living longer, which is great news and we all want to age well. We know that a big part of ageing well is being active and ERCL has developed a range of activities with older people in mind. We'll leave you to decide how to define older age - you could be 50, 60, 70, 80 or 90!  

Below is a brief description, with a contact person for each activity, to help you decide what you'd like to try. If you're looking for somewhere to keep your body and your mind active, in a fun and friendly environment, then come along to one of our activities. Don't worry if you're nervous, haven't been active, or haven't been out and about for a while. You'll be most welcome and we will look after you.

As you add years to your life, let us help you add life to your years.


Walking Group Walking Group

A friendly, sociable walking group, suitable for all levels.

  • Tuesday - Barrhead Foundry - 10.00am
  • Wednesday - Pro Soccer, Rouken Glen Park - 10.30am

Vitality Classes Vitality Classes

If you are living with a medical condition or have difficulties with mobility, our Vitality programme is just what you need. We offer gentle exercise, with four different levels, depending on your ability.  Assessment will be done by one of our highly skilled and qualified instructors to ensure the correct class is recommended.

Tai Chi Tai Chi

Tai Chi combines deep breathing and relaxation with slow and gentle movements. It's the perfect combination to help you exercise your body and mind.

Live Active Team Supervised fitness sessions

Our Live Active advisors are experts at guiding people from being inactive to active. You can do this, with our help, at supervised gym or fitness classes. Groups are small and very friendly.

Adult Singing Group Singing Group

Share a song sing-a-long, led by music loving library staff. Cuppa and chat are included and you don't even need to be able to sing well! Class runs for a limited number of weeks on a Tuesday at Giffnock Library from 2.15 to 3.15 pm.

We offer a range of art classes, suitable for all abilities and interests. Develop your skills and creativity in a fun, friendly environment.

Adult Learner 3 Get Digital

Find out how to use a tablet, computer, or find your way around the internet. Learn how to download audio books or digital magazines or use Skype to keep in touch with family and friends anywhere in the world. We offer a free one to one information session to get you started.

Swimming - Sheila Roach Swimming at Eastwood Park Leisure

Take to the water with people your own age at our lovely Eastwood Pool.

All the fun of football, with no running but plenty of banter. Includes a cuppa and chat after. Suitable for all levels.
