Reading is one of life's greatest joys and can awaken your imagination, inspire and challenge you. Think of your library as an ideas store, somewhere for you to stumble across new books, magazines, opportunities and a place to share ideas.

Come and use the computers, borrow books, flick through digital magazines or just sit, chat and chill with your friends.

Don't forget to check out the art activities including   'Photography for Teens' as well as the great shows on offer at Eastwood Park Theatre

Become a member of your local library and take advantage of a host of services. Register your National Entitlement Card with the library and use it to access all that the library has to offer. If you have any ideas on how to make the service even better, tell us!

Books and reading

From vampires, adventure stories and romantic tales to adored characters like Harry Potter and Katniss Everdeen, there's never been a more exciting time to dip into young adult books. We've got a great selection of classic titles as well as all the latest novels that inspired some of the biggest movie blockbusters of recent years. Into graphic novels? You'll find  Batman and the X-Men, to the latest Manga titles at a library near you.

You can browse and download free eBooks and eAudiobooks to your mobile device or PC. No returns process and no fines to think about. The collection is growing all the time and there are bestsellers, new authors and non-fiction to enjoy. All you need  is your library card, your PIN and access to the internet.


With your library membership, you can download top selling UK magazines to your mobile device or computer for free. eMagazines include Marie Claire, Uncut and T3 to name just a few. And best of all, you get access loads of back editions as well as the latest ones.

Gain the confidence to believe that anything is possible. Every little helps when it comes to studying and libraries can help!  Encyclopaedia Britannica is a great homework, study or research resource with in depth articles, photos, audio links, videos, diagrams, index, A-Z browse, interesting links, a dictionary and much, much more and is well worth a look.

Access to Research is only available when you're in the library and offers access to academic articles and research. Subjects include art, architecture, business, engineering, history, languages, politics, philosophy, mathematics and the sciences.

During exam times, your library will make space available to help you study in peace. Make use of internet-ready computers or connect your device to the free WiFi, use the printers and resources available.

Summer Reading Challenge Volunteering

Volunteering is a brilliant way to make your C.V. stand out as well as picking up new skills and new friends. The annual Summer Reading Challenge runs more smoothly with the help of our SRC volunteers. If you are aged between 11 and 17 would like to find out more about volunteering, drop us an email or talk to staff at your local library.
