Terrified of tablets? No idea about iPads?

Have you just bought one or been given one? Maybe you're thinking of getting one.

Come along, learn the lingo among friendly faces and have some hands-on fun.

We have introductory sessions to give you a flavour of what it's all about and 3-week courses to free you from the fear.

Classes are free, bring your own Android tablet or Apple iPad, or use one of ours.

  • access your settings
  • use the internet

Get Connected to the Internet (Android or iPad)

A 90-minute introductory session for complete beginners to help learners take the first steps in using an Android tablet or Apple iPad.  Learn how to connect to East Renfrewshire Libraries' free WiFi and browse the internet on your own tablet. 

Bring your own device or use one provided for the session.

Getting Started with Tablets (Android or iPad)

A 3-week course for complete beginners to help you learn the basics of using an Android tablet or Apple iPad, from switching it on and off to searching the internet and downloading apps.

Bring your own device or use one provided at each session.


We listen to you!

In response to feedback from customers, we run short, one-off sessions on popular computing topics from time to time throughout the year, as well as the regular computer and tablet classes. Have a look at the What's on page to find out which of these popular sessions are coming to a library near you, and when.

Android Workshop for Beginners

Anxious about your Android tablet?  If you're having difficulties using your device, don't panic!  Maybe you can't connect the tablet to Wi-Fi, surf the web or send e-mails?  Or is it something else you're stuck with?  Stay calm and get help at a basic workshop. (30 mins to 1½ hours)

Try B4 U BUY

Not sure which type of tablet to buy or what the difference is between them all? We have Apple iPads and Android tablets for you to try, plus valuable advice on important things to consider before purchasing. Come along, have a go and see for yourself. (2 hours)

Tap 'n' Talk: Skype

Want to use a tablet to keep in touch, face-to-face, with family and friends who may be far away? Then come along with your device and have fun learning how to download, register and use the Skype app to make and receive video calls. Please note that an understanding of how your device works is required for this session. (2 hours)

Digital Magazines with Magzter

Save your pennies and read your favourite UK magazines for free on your tablet.  Learn how to download, access and explore an exciting range of popular magazines.  Current issues and back issues are available at your fingertips. (1½ hours)

eBooks with Overdrive

Learn how to download eBooks and eAudiobooks to enjoy on your tablet.  Preview, read or listen to your choice of fabulous items from the comfort of your own home, on the move - wherever.  Manage your account online too: borrow, renew, extend your loan and fines will be a thing of the past. (1½ hours)

Snap 'n' Share

Learn how to snap photos with your tablet and share them online with family and friends. (1½ hours)
