Swimming Block We are now working in partnership with Scottish Swimming and now follow their National Swimming Framework which is being delivered in most local authorities and trusts, throughout Scotland.

We are also working with Scottish Swimming's new qualification - the SSTQ. Please see details of our upcoming course below:-

If you are 16 years of age and over and wish to become a swimming instructor, please contact Karen Baxter in the first instance to see if there are still places left on the course. If spaces are available, you must first sign into the Scottish Swimming website  and pay £10 to become a Scottish Swimming Member, guidance of how to sign up can be found here.

Once you have taken out your membership, you can sign onto the course by e-mailing karen.baxter@ercultureandleisure.org or by calling 0141 577 4813/07810756254 and providing your SS Membership Number.

You must be 16 years of age before the course starts and attend all dates. The cost of the course is £550 which must be paid up front to Scottish Swimming and once this has been paid, you will be invited to do some pre-requisite work. Please be aware that this course is NON REFUNDABLE and all dates MUST BE ATTENDED.

You can apply for subsidy which is all explained  here https://www.scottishswimming.com/education/courses-and-training/subsidy-funding-info.aspx - which means you may be able to receive up to a maximum of £100 back for the cost of the course.

This qualification will enable you to source employment as a Swimming Instructor within East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure Trust's Swimming Development Team.
