COVID-19 update: Our libraries are open and we also have a Click and Collect service. Barrhead Foundry and Eastwood Park Leisure are open for members. Neilston Leisure will open on 26 October. Swimming lessons restart from 26 October. The majority of our other services and venues remain closed.
Not one but two finalists from East Renfrewshire!
East Renfrewshire has two finalists in the Sunday Mail and sportscotland Scottish Sports Awards. The Sunday Mail and sportscotland Scottish Sports Awards recognise excellence throughout Scottish sports by awarding athletes, sports teams and coaches for their achievements in 2016. The awards reflect achievements from grassroots through to elite athletes across all sports.
Netherlee Primary School is a finalist in the School Sport Award category. The school has been recognised as an outstanding sector-leading school for sport and physical activity.
Netherlee Primary offers an extensive range of out-of-class sporting activities, in 17 different sports, in which an impressive 65 - 70% of the pupils participate, well above the national average. The whole school focus on health and wellbeing, supporting children to develop and learn. In 2015 it was presented with a Gold School Sport Award by sportscotland.
Ammar Ashraf of East Renfrewshire Cricket Club is a finalist for the Local Hero Award. Ammar has been the driving force behind the remarkable rise of East Renfrewshire Cricket Club, as a coach, development officer, fundraiser, groundsman, manager, recruiter, volunteer, taxi driver - and much more too!
Ammar is absolutely crucial to the success of East Renfrewshire Cricket Club and sport in East Renfrewshire. His vision, determination, resilience and drive continues to ensure effective partnerships are formed and collaboration is at the heart of growing cricket and sport in East Renfrewshire. A true inspiration!
