Primary school pupils turned out in force for the first Williamwood Cluster Netball Festival of the year.
Teams from Busby, Carolside and Netherlee took to the court to take part in an action packed evening of netball at Williamwood High School.
The celebratory event was open to pupils who had taken part in their school's extra-curricular netball club and acted as a rehearsal for next month's qualifiers for the East Renfrewshire Finals.
"The event was great. It gave our pupils their first opportunity to compete against the other schools in the cluster. Not only do events like these allow pupils from different schools to mix with one another, they give them the chance to showcase the skills they have acquired as a result of their involvement in the extra-curricular programme. We can't wait to come back for the qualifiers." - P6 Teacher, Netherlee Primary School.
"To have over 30 pupils give up their evening and make it down to the event, despite the bleak weather conditions, demonstrates just how much appetite there is for inter-school activity. Netball is incredibly popular within the cluster, so it's crucial we find outlets for the pupils outside of the traditional extra-curricular club setup. It's events like these that really cement life-long involvement in physical activity." - Chris Cox, Active Schools Coordinator.
