ERCL Libraries, Arts & Heritage teams have been working with a group of local young people to develop events as part of the Year of Young People 2018.
The group successfully submitted a funding bid to Young Scot and were awarded £2000 from the Sandy Watson Memorial Fund. They will be using the funding to run a special series of stress-busting study sessions for S1-S6 pupils in East Renfrewshire.
The group identified the need for these sessions based on meeting and discussing how they experience the same problems of school related stress such as exams, adjusting after the summer holidays, homework, time-management and the future. The funding will give young people the opportunity to de-stress, take their mind off things and to talk to others who experience the same issues.
The sessions will also feature workshops with tutors. The first one begins on Sunday 13 May, 1-4.30pm at Giffnock Library, with a free mindfulness workshop on offer from 2-3pm. The sessions are open to all S1-S6 and no booking is required.
There will be future sessions taking place across four Sundays from August-November, with future sessions featuring aromatherapy, art therapy and more.
