Young stars shine at gymnastics competition

Last Saturday Williamwood High School was a-buzz with excitement as over 170 gymnasts arrived to showcase their skills in front of a lively crowd of supporters.

This is my daughter's first competition and I have one delighted little girl today as she won a bronze medal! Thank you to everyone involved.

Winners were crowned in 3 age categories for each level of ERCL's Gymnastics programme after months of hard work learning, improving and perfecting their moves ready to be combined into a floor routine and vault for four national-level judges to score - a huge thank you to Mags Kerr, Joan Foulner, Sarah Logan & Sarah Graham for offering their expertise and encouraging everyone to do their very best.

With close competition at all levels, it was fantastic to see such supportive team spirit from all gymnasts, coaches and parents for every performance. The medalists on the day were:

The biggest success on the day was the overwhelmingly positive and enthusiastic atmosphere from everyone involved; we think it's a safe bet that those who took part will be spending their free time during summer cartwheeling and flipping around looking forward to their classes restarting.

Thanks for a brilliant competition, it ran very well - I was a very proud coach!
