Newly formed St Luke's Sports Council Ready to Take Action

St. Luke's St Luke's Sports Council was set up at the start of the 2018/19 academic year to help improve the sporting opportunities and choices on offer at the school. With the assistance of the P.E department and Active Schools Coordinator, the schools' two Young Ambassadors created the sports council which is made up of representatives from each year group. They meet twice a month and discuss ways to improve P.E, sport and physical activity inside and outside of the school curriculum. The representatives are the voice for their year and also feedback any of their years' ideas to the council.

Raising the profile of sport, celebrating sporting success, offering targeted sporting opportunities to each year group and working with community sports clubs are only some of the initiatives that the sports council have tasked themselves with improving over the school year.

To find out more about your school's sports council and how you can get involved, contact Ryan Quinn - Active Schools Co-ordinator (St. Luke's Cluster) via QuinnR@ea.e-renfrew.sch.uk or 07800 629667

"We are all excited about the sports council and all the work we can achieve over the year to see P.E, physical activity and sport improve in the school." Charlie Gardiner, Young Ambassador/Sports Council Rep

"The Sports Council is a fantastic way to promote sport, clubs and pupil well-being. We are delighted to have such strong role models driving forward their ideas and aspirations into St Luke's PE department while celebrating and recognising sporting achievements." Mrs Mitchell, P.E Teacher
