Outreach and Non-Theatre Venues

Outreach and Community

We are inspired by The National Theatre of Scotland's 'A Theatre Without Walls'. While we are committed to programming our beautiful proscenium arch theatre at Eastwood Park, we also recognise the importance of theatre and cultural opportunities in non-theatre venues. Much of our theatre programme takes place in schools, halls, community venues. We programme site specific theatre work where appropriate, breaking down any pre-conceived views of theatre and bringing it home to our own communities within East Renfrewshire. We have recently hosted Scottish Opera in Rouken Glen & Cowan Park, EcoDrama in Barrhead Waterworks, and worked alongside Whitelee Rangers and Scottish Power to bring 'Sea Hames' by Ocean All Over to Whitelee Wind Farm.

We engage by using theatre as a tool in an Outreach setting. We are committed to working with those who may be socially or geographically disengaged in using theatre to explore choice and behaviour. We aim to generate a new audience of theatre enthusiasts through our on going outreach work.

Holiday programmes, schools based work and links with education are also areas we are developing. Our arts team are programming an increasingly rich, diverse and eclectic year round programme of performances and events. The performing arts programme involves wider partnerships to offer a holistic and inclusive range of activities that are focused on quality, culture, learning, fun and the health and wellbeing of the audience.
