Britannica Library, one of the most trusted resources on the web, offers easy access to reliable information on most topics enriched by magazine articles, images and video clips. Pitched at three different levels this resource is ideal for homework and study.
NATIONAL LIBRARY OF SCOTLAND
The National Library of Scotland (NLS) subscribes to well over 100 electronic resources. From subject specific databases to vast academic journal and eBook platforms, this is a significant research resource, most of which you can access remotely. It is also free to use to registered NLS users with a Scottish address, and registration is free, easy, and online.
ANCESTRY LIBRARY EDITION
Our subscription to this great family history website is usually only accessible on site in our libraries. Due to the Coronavirus outbreak we can now offer temporary online access to our library members from home. To use it, visit your library account page and log in with your library card and PIN number. EAST RENFREWSHIRE HERITAGE SERVICE
Why not step into the past with East Renfrewshire Libraries’ Heritage Service. There are two heritage centres, at Giffnock Library and at the Library within Barrhead Foundry. Delve into a book from the local studies collection, pour over our extensive collection of old photographs and maps or read all about the lives of our early residents in local newspapers going back as far as 1898.
ACCESS TO RESEARCH
Access to Research gives free, walk-in access to a wide range of academic articles and research in public libraries across the UK. Subjects include art, architecture, business, engineering, history, languages, politics, philosophy, mathematics and the sciences. All content provided is digital and can be accessed from library computers or via the library WiFi service.
PORTAL TO THE PAST
Every town or village in East Renfrewshire has its own unique history and the Portal to the Past website is the number one place to access it. Packed with local history and old photographs, it’s the perfect way to gather information for that project, answer a tricky question or while away the hours reminiscing about times past.
