Inclusive Swimming – Everyone can swim and everyone should swim.
“My ability is stronger than my disability”.

At East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure we believe that swimming is for everyone, no matter what your support and access needs are. That is why we offer a range of swimming lessons for those who need extra help and support. We offer several options and classes, also offering group classes for more confident swimmers swimming with disabilities.

We want to make swimming accessible, fun, and easy for everyone.
Our Inclusive swimming lessons have been specifically developed for those swimming with additional support needs.

Our instructors have gone through dedicated training, meaning they can deliver inclusive classes for all who have differing impairments and access needs.

All of our leisure centres are wheelchair accessible with poolside mobility aids, allowing everyone to participate.
Our swimming lessons are designed to help children swimming with a disability develop valuable skills and gain confidence in the water. Our trained instructors have developed lessons suitable for those with varying abilities to ensure swimming can be enjoyable for everyone.

Our expert teachers will lead classes that help individuals:
• Gain a sense of water awareness
• Water Safety
• Improve their swimming skills
• Increase their enjoyment in the water
• Socialise with others

Our lessons are grouped into the following categories:-
Inclusive Lessons Primary Aged 3 to 12yrs
Inclusive Lessons Secondary aged 13 to 17
Inclusive Lessons Young Adult aged 18 to 25

Please note all swimming lesson are non-refundable unless a medical certificate is provided or in exceptional circumstances.

Your Data

East Renfrewshire Culture & Leisure is the data controller. We will use the data you provide in accordance with GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 for the purpose of administering your child’s participation in the swimming lesson programme. Concessions

Concessions are available if you are in receipt of council tax benefit, housing benefit or the participant is in receipt of disability living allowance. Concessions must be applied for before the participant can be booked onto lessons. Please provide confirmation of your concession at any of our Leisure Centres.

Please note

All swimming lessons within East Renfrewshire are taught in line with our Learn 2 Swim guidelines. Each level has specific objectives for each child to complete before moving to the next level. Payment for each level must be made before your child’s last lesson. Please inform the swimming co-ordinator at the location you have requested should any of the above details change. These lessons are non-refundable unless a medical certificate is provided or in exceptional circumstances.
